Bhopal, June 1: The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, emphasized that the welfare of women and children is a top priority for the state government. During a review meeting of the Women and Child Development Department, he urged for increased public participation and accountability in implementing the department’s schemes.
Yadav highlighted the need for greater promotion of initiatives aimed at improving the nutritional levels of women and children. He suggested that activities in this area should involve the Health Department, School Education, Panchayat and Rural Development, as well as private hospitals and institutions. A plan should also be developed to adopt successful innovations from other states and districts within the province.
The Chief Minister called for incentives for those performing well at the grassroots level and strict action against negligence. He proposed a public-private partnership model for constructing hostels for working women in industrial units with a significant female workforce.
The meeting revealed that the construction of working women’s hostels has commenced in Devas, Narmadapuram, Jhabua, and Singrauli. One-stop centers have been approved in Pandhurna, Mauganj, Maihar, Petlawad-Jhabua, Indore’s Lasudia and Sanver, as well as Manawar and Pithampur in Dhar, to assist women in crisis. Over 66,000 children have received support through 51 district-level and one state-level child helpline centers, with mapping of at-risk children ongoing in 13 districts.
Additionally, a graduation ceremony was held for 928,000 children aged 5 to 6, providing them with admission certificates and ensuring smooth entry into schools. This innovative approach has received national recognition. Child care institutions have also initiated the process for the Chief Minister’s Sports and Cultural Festival.
