Chinas Box Office Revenue Surpasses 15 Billion Yuan in 2026

Beijing, June 1: According to recent data, China’s box office revenue has exceeded 15.7 billion yuan as of May 31, 2026. Among the top films, “Dear You” has grossed over 1.4 billion yuan, securing the third position at the box office this year.

With the summer holidays approaching, more than 50 films are scheduled for release, covering genres such as history, science fiction, youth, and animation. The promotion of films across various sectors is also boosting consumption.

“Dear You” tells a touching story about overseas Chinese, spanning over half a century. The film will be in theaters until June 30 and is set to launch internationally as well.

The year 2026 marks the beginning of a comprehensive program aimed at enhancing the film economy. Various regions in China have implemented generous policies to encourage movie attendance. The sale of film tickets has significantly boosted tourism, dining, hotel stays, and cultural products, becoming a vital engine for economic growth.

As per the statistics, the total production value of China’s film industry chain has reached approximately 2.5 trillion yuan.
