New Delhi, June 1: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a significant restructuring of the capital’s health services aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability. Over 40 medical, paramedical, and administrative officials from the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) under the Health and Family Welfare Department have been transferred. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to providing better medical facilities to Delhi residents, stating that any negligence or indiscipline will not be tolerated.
CM Rekha Gupta revealed that among those transferred is Dr. Vinod Kumar Ranga, the Head of Office, along with nine other doctors. Additionally, to bolster paramedical services, 19 staff members, including pharmacists, junior medical lab technicians, lab attendants, and drivers, have also been reassigned.
To improve administrative efficiency, 10 employees at the levels of Section Officer, Senior Assistant, and Junior Assistant have been transferred. A review of human resources at the CPA was conducted to assess the status of officials and staff. Information was also gathered on employees who are on the CPA pay scale but are working in other offices to ensure more effective use of available resources. Other staff members have also been removed from the CPA.
The Chief Minister noted that the CPA is a crucial hub for the Delhi government‘s health system, responsible for the procurement and supply of medicines, medical equipment, and other essential health materials. To enhance this system, experienced officials and staff from various hospitals and departments are being integrated into the CPA. As part of this process, 12 medical officers from different hospitals and health institutions have been assigned to the CPA, including senior medical officers, medical officers, and Chief Medical Officers. This deployment aims to strengthen procurement, storage, supply, and administrative functions.
She added that to expedite departmental operations, additional responsibilities have been assigned to various officials. Responsibilities for the operation of the Project Branch, Caretaking Branch, Store and Purchase Branch, Computer Cell, Mobile Health Scheme, PGMS, RTI, Child Rights, Health Fair, hospital coordination, and other important units have been delegated to the relevant officials. Furthermore, necessary administrative arrangements have been made to enhance the effectiveness of the Store and Purchase Branch and CPA-related tasks.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reiterated that the Delhi government’s goal is to provide each unit of the health department with the necessary human resources and strengthen institutional capacity. The government is committed to ensuring that the procurement and supply of medicines and medical materials are robust, enabling timely and improved health services for Delhi residents.
