New Delhi, June 1: Fifteen-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made a remarkable impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Fans are calling for this young talent to be given a chance in the senior Indian team. According to BCCI President Rajeev Shukla, the decision regarding Vaibhav’s selection should be left to the selectors.

In 16 matches of IPL 2026, Vaibhav scored 776 runs at an impressive average of 48.50, earning him the coveted ‘Orange Cap.’ He was also recognized as the ‘Emerging Player of the Season,’ hitting a record 72 sixes throughout the tournament.

Vaibhav’s performance included two centuries and six half-centuries, leading fans to urge for his swift inclusion in the national team. On this matter, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla stated to reporters on Monday, “We should leave Vaibhav’s selection to the selectors. They will make the right decision at the appropriate time.”

Previously, in IPL 2025, Vaibhav played seven matches for Rajasthan Royals, scoring 252 runs at an average of 36, including one century. He is also the youngest player in IPL history to score a century. Vaibhav played a crucial role in India winning the Under-19 World Cup 2026, scoring 175 runs in the final against England.

Meanwhile, cricketing legend Virat Kohli ranked fourth among the top run-scorers in IPL 2026, amassing 675 runs at an average of 56.25 over 16 matches. In the final against Gujarat Titans, Kohli scored an unbeaten 75 runs off 42 balls, featuring three sixes and nine fours. With this victory, RCB secured the IPL title for the second consecutive season.

Rajeev Shukla praised Kohli’s extraordinary talent, stating, “The skill displayed by Virat Kohli is unparalleled. His batting and the way the captain managed the team were both highly commendable.”
