Dehradun, June 1: A significant gathering took place in Dehradun to commemorate the thirteenth day memorial of former Chief Minister and esteemed leader Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri. Numerous political, social, and religious figures attended the event, including Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Kailashanand Giri, and Baba Ramdev, who paid their respects and reflected on Khanduri’s contributions and character.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami remarked, “The passing of Khanduri Ji is an irreparable loss, not just for Uttarakhand but for the entire nation. He was a true warrior, a disciplined soldier, and a dedicated social worker. He fulfilled every responsibility with utmost integrity and loyalty, whether in the military or politics.” Dhami emphasized that Khanduri’s life will continue to inspire future generations, and his ideals will never be forgotten.
Former Union Minister and BJP leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi stated, “Khanduri Ji was a leader of a generation that embodied the ideals of nation-building post-independence. He viewed himself as a servant of India. While serving in the army, he defended the nation’s borders, and upon entering politics, he continued to serve the public with the same dedication and discipline.”
Joshi highlighted Khanduri’s unblemished public life, noting that throughout his tenure as a Union Minister, Chief Minister, and Member of Parliament, he faced no allegations of corruption or misconduct. She acknowledged his significant contributions to the development of national highways and infrastructure, which earned him lasting respect from the community.
She also mentioned Khanduri’s strong family values, stating that he was dedicated to maintaining relationships and caring for his family, setting an example through his devotion to his mother. Joshi concluded that Khanduri’s life teaches lessons of duty, discipline, and service beyond politics.
Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri from the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad remarked on Khanduri’s pivotal role in elevating Uttarakhand. He noted that Khanduri’s journey from a small village to prominent positions in the country, while handling every responsibility with skill, was remarkable. Giri stated that the diverse attendance at the memorial reflects the respect and love people held for Khanduri.
He added that Khanduri’s life serves as a source of inspiration, and his actions and principles can guide society and the nation toward betterment. Giri prayed for the peace of the departed leader’s soul and expressed condolences to his family.
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev also paid tribute to Khanduri, describing his personality as vast and towering like the Himalayas. He affirmed that Khanduri’s contributions to the creation and development of Uttarakhand will always be remembered. Ramdev noted that Khanduri established high ideals of honesty, duty, and national service in both the military and political arenas.
