Comfort Over Fashion: Insights from the Cast of Anupamaa

Mumbai, June 1: The star cast of the popular TV show ‘Anupamaa’ participated in a special event titled ‘Colors of Fashion, Together with Relationships’ on Star Plus. During the event, actresses Rupali Ganguly, Adrija Roy, and Neha shared their perspectives on fashion, style, the influence of social media, and affordable fashion. They emphasized that the essence of fashion lies in confidence and comfort, rather than expensive clothing or fleeting trends.

Rupali Ganguly spoke about her connection to her character Anupamaa, stating that she does not limit herself to any one state. “Anupamaa represents women across the country, and that identity is what makes her special to me,” she said. “Wherever I go, people recognize me as Anupamaa, and that is my greatest achievement.”

When asked about fashion, Rupali mentioned that she has never taken it too seriously. According to her, the most significant aspect of fashion is the confidence and comfort one feels. She believes that clothes look best when the wearer feels at ease. Rupali also noted that many artists in the television industry carry sarees beautifully, which she considers a hallmark of being stylish.

Addressing the pressure to appear fashionable in the age of social media, Rupali stated that she does not feel such pressure. She chooses her outfits with the help of a stylist, focusing on her comfort. She advised people not to spend excessively on expensive clothes just because they see celebrities wearing them. In her view, reusing old clothes and styling them in new ways is a better option.

At the event, Neha represented Maharashtra’s culture, wearing an Indo-Western outfit inspired by traditional Paithani art, blending modern and traditional elements. She explained that her look was enhanced with Marathi jewelry, gajra, and traditional designs.

Sharing her thoughts on fashion, Neha said that style is not just about following trends. “An outfit looks attractive only when the wearer feels comfortable and confident in it. Wearing designer clothes does not equate to fashion; presenting them according to one’s personality is far more important,” she stated.

Neha also discussed the ever-changing fashion trends, asserting that while fashion evolves, it doesn’t mean one should completely overhaul their wardrobe with every new trend. She advocated for sustainable fashion, suggesting that old clothes can be styled in new ways to look chic.

Actress Adrija Roy represented Gujarat’s culture at the event. She mentioned that her outfit was crafted with great care by a designer, showcasing the traditional essence of Gujarat. “Representing a culture is not just about words; it’s about presenting its identity correctly,” Adrija remarked.

When talking about her favorite artists in the fashion industry, Adrija praised actress Jennifer Winget for her simple and balanced style. She acknowledged that social media has become an essential platform for artists today, but she does not let it pressure her too much.

Adrija concluded by stating that the most important aspect of fashion is feeling comfortable. Especially in summer, one should wear clothes that allow for ease. She believes that style extends beyond clothing; it also depends on how one presents their entire personality.
