Delhi Government Increases Crop Damage Relief to ₹75,000 Per Hectare

New Delhi, June 1: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Monday that the Delhi government has decided to increase the relief assistance for farmers affected by heavy rainfall and waterlogging during August-September 2025 to ₹75,000 per hectare.

This decision, made during a cabinet meeting, is expected to provide significant relief to around 10,000 farmers in Delhi.

The Chief Minister reported that a total of 10,977.44 acres (approximately 4,442.41 hectares) of agricultural land in Delhi has been impacted by the rainfall.

In 2015, the previous government had set the relief assistance for crop damage due to rain at ₹20,000 per acre, which translates to approximately ₹49,421 per hectare.

Considering the rise in agricultural costs over the past decade, the current government has raised the assistance rate to ₹75,000 per hectare.

This increased support will specifically aid farmers whose crops have suffered due to heavy rainfall and resultant waterlogging.

The decision was made in light of the extreme weather conditions and disruptions in natural drainage systems during August-September 2025.

According to the Chief Minister, this assistance will be provided to registered landowners only. Land owned by companies, land under village councils, and farmhouses surrounded by permanent walls will not be eligible for this aid.

A detailed assessment by the revenue department revealed that crops in the affected areas sustained extensive damage, with a 100 percent loss assessment reported.

In response to this situation, the cabinet has decided to grant full relief assistance of ₹75,000 per hectare. Under the previous arrangement, assistance was provided based on the extent of crop loss, with up to 70 percent aid for losses below that threshold, and full assistance for losses exceeding 70 percent.

This support aims not only to provide financial aid to farmers but also to enable them to prepare for the next crop and ensure the continuity of agricultural activities.
