Jharkhand to Digitize Land Records and Facilitate Driving License Camps

Ranchi, June 1: The Jharkhand government is set to enhance the digital accessibility of land records for individuals buying or selling property. Soon, residents will be able to access comprehensive information about land status on a single platform. This initiative aims to clarify whether a piece of land has been acquired for government projects, is in the acquisition process, or is free of disputes.

During a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, officials from the Transport Department and the Revenue, Registration, and Land Reforms Department received crucial directives regarding this digitization effort.

Land disputes have long plagued the state, often leaving buyers unaware that the land they purchased is linked to government schemes or acquisition processes. Once the proposed digital system is implemented, individuals will have the ability to check the updated status of land online before making a purchase. This is expected to reduce land disputes and incidents of fraud.

The meeting also reviewed issues related to khas mahal land. The government indicated plans to simplify and enhance transparency in the processes of lease renewal, transfer, and land use change. This includes mapping leaseholders of khas mahal land and re-verifying documents.

To provide relief to rural residents, the government emphasized the establishment of driving license camps at the panchayat level. This initiative will spare villagers the need to frequently visit district headquarters or transport offices to obtain licenses. The meeting also addressed road safety concerns. The review included the Good Samaritan scheme, which encourages assistance to accident victims, and the hit-and-run compensation scheme.

Officials were instructed to disseminate information about these initiatives widely. Additionally, there is a push to launch the proposed ‘Guruji Emergency Service-1944’ soon, which the government believes will provide swift assistance in emergencies. Various topics were discussed to improve transport systems, enhance road safety, and make administrative services more transparent and accessible through technology.
