Gwalior, April 6: A video has gone viral on social media showing Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reprimanding a government official during a public hearing in Ashoknagar on Monday. The incident occurred when Scindia noticed negligence in addressing citizens’ complaints.
After the event, he observed that the applications submitted by citizens were scattered on the stage, indicating they had not been properly collected or recorded.
Seeing the disarray, Scindia immediately questioned the attending officer and instructed them to organize each application correctly. Clearly frustrated, he admonished Ashoknagar Collector Saket Malviya, emphasizing the need to handle such important documents with care and responsibility.
Scindia remarked that these public applications are as valuable as gold, highlighting their significance and the trust people place in the administration.
The viral video has drawn attention to the issues of administrative accountability and the seriousness of addressing public complaints. Scindia further stated that these applications represent the hopes, expectations, and problems of the citizens, not just pieces of paper.
He stressed that any negligence in their resolution adversely affects governance and undermines public trust in the system.
It is noteworthy that Scindia has been participating in public hearings across various parts of his Guna parliamentary constituency over the past three to four days, issuing necessary directives to officials for resolving each complaint received from the public.
During a conversation with reporters on Monday morning, Scindia mentioned that several public hearings were held at various locations during his three-day visit to Ashoknagar, and this initiative will continue.
On Saturday, Scindia’s public relations department announced in a press release that the initiative to hold public hearings in the presence of district administration began last year and has now entered its second phase.
