New Delhi, June 4: Amid the ongoing turmoil in West Bengal politics, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari’s recent social media post has sparked a new political debate. With reports of increasing internal strife and rebellion within the TMC, Bhandari shared a provocative image on the social media platform ‘X’.
The image features TMC MP Mahua Moitra, Sayoni Ghosh, senior advocate and Rajya Sabha member Menaka Guruswamy, and journalist and Rajya Sabha member Sagarika Ghosh. Prominently displayed above the images is the word ‘MISSING’, while the title refers to ‘Missing Ladies’.
In his post, Bhandari captioned it, “Now you see me, now you don’t,” suggesting a sudden disappearance from the political scene. This post is being interpreted in light of the current political climate in West Bengal.
The BJP’s criticism comes at a time when the TMC has faced electoral setbacks, revealing growing discontent within the party. Sayoni Ghosh was active as a star campaigner during the assembly elections, making bold claims about the party’s resurgence. Similarly, Mahua Moitra played a significant role in the campaign.
Additionally, Menaka Guruswamy has represented several critical cases related to the TMC and the West Bengal government in the Supreme Court, while Sagarika Ghosh was also actively involved in the electoral campaign.
However, there has been no official response from the TMC regarding Bhandari’s post. Meanwhile, the crisis for the TMC appears to be deepening. Kolkata’s mayor and senior party leader Firhad Hakim has resigned from his position, and open rebellion within the party has surfaced.
Recent reports indicate that a group of 58 out of 80 TMC legislators has formally supported Ritabrata Banerjee as the new leader of the assembly party.
