Grand Yoga Event in Amaravati to Celebrate International Yoga Day with Over 25,000 Participants

Amaravati, June 4: A grand yoga event is set to take place in Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, on June 21 in celebration of International Yoga Day. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that over 25,000 participants will gather on the western bypass road of the Krishna River for this special occasion.

The state government will launch the ‘Yoga Andhra 2026’ campaign from June 7 to June 20, aiming to engage one crore residents in yoga activities this year.

CM Naidu emphasized that yoga should not be a one-day event but a daily practice in every household. He stressed the importance of transforming yoga into a people’s movement for a healthier Andhra Pradesh. Efforts are underway to incorporate yoga into educational institutions to ensure that future generations are physically and mentally strong.

He described yoga as India’s invaluable gift to the world, stating it is one of the most effective solutions for managing stress, anxiety, and lifestyle-related diseases. Yoga serves as a comprehensive means for physical fitness, mental peace, and spiritual growth.

Naidu also reflected on the success of last year’s ‘Yoga Andhra 2025’ event, which gained national and international recognition during a program attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Visakhapatnam. This event set two Guinness World Records, received 21 World Book of Records acknowledgments, and won a Scotch Award. Approximately 2.44 crore people registered, with 1.91 crore participants receiving certificates. Yoga programs were held at 1.33 lakh locations across the state, supported by 1.53 lakh instructors.

This year, each district will have a unique theme. Special yoga programs will be organized for police personnel in NTR district and farmers in Konaseema district. Yoga sessions will also be conducted at 56 major tourist destinations across the state, promoting yoga tourism, with historical and religious sites like Undavalli Caves and Srisailam serving as focal points.

The Chief Minister noted that yoga holds a special place in the ‘Golden Andhra 2047’ vision. The government aims to train 10 lakh certified yoga practitioners, develop a network of 2.5 lakh yoga instructors, and motivate one crore people to practice yoga regularly throughout the year.

To support these initiatives, the state government has allocated a special budget of 10 crore rupees. Wellness expert Dr. Manthana Sathyanarayana Raju is providing guidance to strengthen ‘Yoga Andhra 2026.’ Additionally, over 168 educational yoga videos have been prepared.

Individuals can receive yoga-related materials by messaging the WhatsApp number 81424 04888. The Chief Minister has also appealed to social media influencers, TV channels, and cable networks for support in this awareness campaign. During this announcement, he launched the ‘Yoga Andhra’ portal, which will provide registration, event information, and training materials.
