Venezuelas Acting President Delcy Rodriguez Begins Five-Day Visit to India

New Delhi, June 4: Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a five-day visit. This trip is seen as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations between India and Venezuela.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Rodriguez’s visit will help deepen the ties between the two nations. During her stay, she is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions will cover various aspects of India-Venezuela relations, including energy security, trade and investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation, and renewable energy.

Jaiswal welcomed Rodriguez on social media platform X, saying, “We warmly welcome Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez upon her arrival in New Delhi. Her visit will provide new momentum to the India-Venezuela partnership and strengthen bilateral cooperation.”

Rodriguez is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes ministers from Venezuela’s foreign affairs, economy and finance, science and technology, communication and information, and transportation sectors.

During her visit, the Venezuelan delegation will tour various establishments in the energy, pharmaceuticals, and automotive sectors. They will observe India’s technical and industrial capabilities and discuss new avenues for collaboration.

This marks Rodriguez’s sixth visit to India. Previously, she visited in 2015 as Venezuela’s Foreign Minister and again in 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025 as Vice President.

According to the Foreign Ministry, India has been a key partner for Venezuela in the energy and investment sectors. Indian public sector companies have made significant investments in Venezuela’s energy sector and are eager to strengthen their presence in the future.

The ministry noted that the relationship between India and Venezuela is based on energy cooperation, trade, and a shared commitment to the Global South. It is hoped that this visit will further enhance relations between the two countries and provide new direction for cooperation in various fields.
