Josh Inglis Shatters Records with Fastest Half-Century at IPL 2026

Chennai, May 10: In a thrilling encounter of IPL 2026, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday. LSG’s batsman Josh Inglis made history at CSK’s home ground, the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium, by scoring the fastest half-century ever recorded at the venue.

Inglis achieved this remarkable feat in just 17 balls, becoming the third-fastest batsman to score a half-century in IPL history. He played a sensational innings, amassing 85 runs off 33 balls with an explosive strike rate of 257, which included 10 fours and 6 sixes.

Thanks to Inglis’s explosive batting, LSG reached their first 50 runs in just 3.4 overs, marking their joint fastest team half-century in the league. Previously, in 2023, LSG had also completed 50 runs in the same time frame at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. During the powerplay, Inglis scored 74 runs off 25 balls, making him the fourth-highest run-scorer in the powerplay phase.

After losing the toss and being put to bat first, LSG had a strong start. Inglis and Mitchell Marsh formed a brilliant partnership, scoring 77 runs for the first wicket in just 31 balls. Marsh was dismissed for 10 runs, while Nicholas Pooran struggled to make an impact, scoring only 1 run before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad.

Captain Rishabh Pant also contributed with 15 runs off 12 balls before returning to the pavilion. Inglis continued his aggressive batting until he was out for 85 runs, narrowly missing out on a century. For this match, LSG made two changes to their playing eleven, bringing Inglis back into the team and replacing Mayank Yadav with Avesh Khan.
