Bhopal, June 5: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name 2.0’ campaign at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Center in Bhopal at 11 AM on World Environment Day. During the state-level event, 11 environmental awards will be presented across eight categories. These awards recognize outstanding contributions to environmental protection, pollution control, and sustainable development for the year 2024-25, honoring industrial units, educational institutions, social organizations, and individuals.
CM Yadav will also unveil five course modules related to the circular economy and documentation of 500 stepwells across 16 districts as part of the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign, conducted by EPCO and INTACH. The event will showcase innovations in environmental protection, circular economy initiatives, and significant achievements in water conservation. The Minister of Forests and Environment, Mr. Dilip Ahirwar, and Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Ashok Barnwal will also be present.
The ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name 2.0’ initiative aims to encourage citizens, educational institutions, industries, self-help groups, urban bodies, panchayats, and various social organizations to participate in tree planting. The planted trees will be geo-tagged and registered on the ‘My Life’ portal, ensuring their monitoring and conservation. Since its launch in 2024, millions of trees have already been planted in Madhya Pradesh. This campaign will run from June 5 to September 30, 2026, with active public participation.
On June 5, various programs will be organized at the district level in Madhya Pradesh to promote environmental protection, biodiversity enhancement, and community-based tree planting as a mass movement. This year’s theme aligns with the United Nations’ focus on “Inspired by Nature, for Climate and for Our Future,” alongside the nationwide message “Now for Climate.” Experts, representatives, and environmentalists will discuss topics related to environmental protection, climate change, pollution control, and sustainable development goals during the event. This initiative aims to strengthen environmental awareness in the state and engage various segments of society in conservation activities.
Awareness programs, seminars, rallies, art and essay competitions, tree planting drives, cleanliness initiatives, and environmental oath-taking ceremonies will be conducted in all districts. Active participation from schools, colleges, NSS, NCC, Nehru Youth Centers, and volunteer organizations will be ensured.
Special programs on the themes “One Tree – Many Lives” and “Inspired by Nature, Our Future for Climate” will be organized at the district level. Extensive activities will be carried out to spread messages on water conservation, biodiversity enhancement, a plastic-free environment, cleanliness, and green development.
