
Beijing, June 5: China and Vietnam have initiated a new round of consultations focused on maritime activities. The discussions were co-chaired by Hu Wei, a representative from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nguyen Dang Thang, the director of the National Boundary Commission under Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The 18th round of consultations between the China-Vietnam working group took place in Vung Tau, a southern port city in Vietnam, specifically addressing the outer waters of the Beibu Gulf. This meeting also marked the 15th round of discussions regarding joint development in the South China Sea, with representatives from relevant departments of both countries participating.
During the consultations, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on the demarcation of the outer waters of the Beibu Gulf and the joint development in the South China Sea. They expressed a commitment to earnestly implement the significant agreements reached by the leaders of both nations. The goal is to expedite the demarcation process and achieve tangible progress as soon as possible.
Additionally, the parties discussed other maritime issues and agreed on the need for proper management of maritime disputes. They emphasized the importance of actively promoting maritime cooperation and jointly maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea.
