Gurdaspur, June 5: Congress MP Sukjinder Singh Randhawa has leveled serious allegations against the Punjab police, claiming that two DSPs in his district are directly colluding with gangsters. Despite multiple complaints to the DGP, no action has been taken so far.
Speaking to a news agency, Randhawa stated, “I will present evidence. I have recordings of conference calls related to extortion on my mobile phone. If false accusations are made against them, they will respond with evidence, but that is not happening.”
He emphasized that gangsters and police officials negotiate over phone calls. Referring to obscene language sent by an activist, he remarked, “Such language is unacceptable. The way the police are operating is not good for the state. The rule of law in Punjab is deteriorating.”
Randhawa cited an attack on BJP leader Vijay Soni, noting that a notorious bandit resides near the attack site, having committed several robberies in Gurdaspur. He questioned why the police are not investigating this aspect. “The SSP wants action, but their SHOs are not listening to him. This is Punjab’s greatest misfortune,” he added.
Defending Captain Amarinder Singh against BJP Punjab president Keval Dhillon’s displeasure, Randhawa remarked, “Captain’s political stature is significant. He always expresses his views openly. He left Congress in 1984 but never bends in politics. I can attest to what he said; he was not consulted.”
Randhawa also launched a sharp attack on former Congress leader Sunil Jakhar, stating, “I am more hurt by Sunil Jakhar than by Captain. Jakhar left Congress saying, ‘I am Hindu.’ Your conscience is dead. From 1972 to 2026, this family has been in Congress for over 50 years. Despite reaching top positions, you still speak against Congress.”
