PM-SYM Scheme Offers Economic Security to Unorganized Workers in Neemuch

Neemuch, June 5: The Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme is gaining popularity as it aims to provide financial security to millions of unorganized workers in their old age. Thousands of workers in Neemuch district are benefiting from this ambitious social security initiative by the central government. So far, over 3,300 unorganized workers have registered, with the labor department conducting special campaigns to enroll new beneficiaries continuously.

On Thursday, the labor department organized a special registration and awareness camp at Neemuch Proteins Limited in the village of Nevad. A large number of workers participated, gaining information about the scheme and completing their registration. Officials informed the workers that unorganized workers aged between 18 and 40, with a monthly income of less than ₹15,000, are eligible for this scheme.

Under the scheme, eligible workers must contribute between ₹55 to ₹200 monthly, depending on their age. Notably, the government matches the amount contributed by the workers. Upon reaching the age of 60, beneficiaries receive a guaranteed pension of ₹3,000 per month, providing them with financial support in their old age.

During the camp, eligible workers were registered on-site for free based on their Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and mobile number. They were also issued Shram Yogi Maandhan cards. Workers expressed enthusiasm for the scheme, deeming it beneficial for their future.

Ayush Nagar, an employee at the factory, stated, “The PM-SYM scheme is extremely useful for workers in the unorganized sector. For those who cannot benefit from provident fund schemes, this is a better alternative. Contributing only ₹55 to ₹200 monthly to receive ₹3,000 as a pension in the future is a significant relief for workers.”

Deepesh Ahir praised the scheme, emphasizing the importance of financial security in old age after a working life. The pension received after 60 years will be a great support for workers, along with the ₹2 lakh accident insurance provided through the e-Shram card.

Siddhi Parashar, another factory employee, mentioned that while the initial contributions are small, they form the basis for a dignified life in old age. The monthly pension provided by the government will be a substantial help for elderly workers.

Neemuch District Labor Inspector Sajjan Singh Chauhan reported that camps are being held continuously across the district under the PM-SYM scheme. Any eligible unorganized worker aged between 18 and 40 can register. The government matches the contributions made by the workers. Registration can be done through the beneficiary portal, CSC centers, and MP Online.

He added that if a beneficiary passes away, their spouse will receive a family pension of ₹1,500 per month. Since the scheme’s inception in the district, approximately 3,300 workers have registered. The labor department aims to connect as many eligible workers as possible to the scheme, ensuring their future is secure and dignified.
