Balancing Party Dynamics: A Major Challenge for Karnatakas Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar

Bengaluru, June 5: The Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra criticized the Congress government on Thursday, stating that managing internal party dynamics and balancing various leaders will be the biggest challenge for Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in the coming years.

Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, Vijayendra claimed that the influence of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is more evident in the newly formed cabinet than that of Shivakumar.

He alleged, “D.K. Shivakumar has taken the oath as Chief Minister and fulfilled his long-standing ambition. However, when you look at the list of ministers, it becomes clear that this is not D.K. Shivakumar’s cabinet; it is Siddaramaiah’s cabinet.”

Vijayendra asserted that Siddaramaiah had already posed political challenges before resigning from the chief minister’s position, particularly by advancing reports on backward classes, which he believes will now test the current administration.

He also criticized the Congress government’s three-year rule, claiming it has failed to deliver development and focused instead on appeasement politics.

“Over the past three years, there has been no significant development in the state. The government has concentrated solely on minority appeasement. Whether the economic situation and security measures can be managed in the next two years remains a big question,” he stated.

Vijayendra noted that the Chief Minister faces several major administrative and political challenges, including managing ministers and MLAs within the ruling party.

He added, “This is not a honeymoon period for the Chief Minister. We will continue to expose the government’s failures to the public.”

He further mentioned that the BJP will strengthen its organization and work towards regaining power in the state in the future.

Addressing questions related to the Mekedatu project, he remarked that while it is easy for the opposition to conduct protests like padayatras, the ruling party has had ample time to resolve issues.

Regarding allegations tied to commission politics, Vijayendra stated that time will provide the answers.

He also commented on how some political leaders often mention his name for publicity, but he does not take such remarks seriously.

“As the state president, I will strengthen the organization and work towards bringing the BJP back to power in Karnataka,” he affirmed.

On the issue of representation in the Rajya Sabha, he indicated that party leadership would decide nominations based on the state’s interests.
