New Delhi, February 27: In a significant operation, the Dwarka police have apprehended two high-profile suspects involved in liquor smuggling. This action is part of an ongoing campaign against declared criminals and inter-state liquor traffickers.
According to police reports, the arrests occurred during separate operations. The first suspect, 35-year-old Rizwan, son of Irfan, was arrested in Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar. He had been evading law enforcement for a considerable time, having been declared a fugitive by the Dwarka Court on January 13 in case number 17222/2021 under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), a special team formed to capture declared criminals apprehended him on February 21, 2026, based on confidential information in the Sector-10 area. The operation was led by Inspector Harish Kumar and conducted under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations).
The police arrested Rizwan under Section 35(1)(D) of the BNS Act. Officials noted that he had no prior criminal record.
In a separate operation, the police arrested Prashant, a 29-year-old inter-state illegal liquor supplier, son of Ram Babu. The Special Staff received a tip-off that he was arriving at the Transport Authority near Sector-10 with a shipment of illegal liquor. When police signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee but was apprehended after a chase. A search of his Mahindra XUV 500 revealed 40 cartons, totaling 2,000 quarters of illegal liquor.
According to police, Prashant used luxury SUVs for smuggling operations between Delhi and Haryana. He has previously faced charges under the Delhi Excise Act and the NDPS Act.
The Dwarka police emphasized that both operations are part of ongoing special campaigns targeting declared criminals and inter-state illegal liquor suppliers. A press release stated, “Further investigations are ongoing,” highlighting the department’s commitment to monitoring criminal activities and ensuring accountability.
DCP Ankit Singh indicated that these successes were achieved through a combination of technical intelligence and ground surveillance. Investigations are continuing.
