New Chandigarh, May 30: The second qualifier of IPL 2026 took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, featuring a clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT). RR won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring a formidable 214 runs, largely thanks to Vaibhav Suryavanshi‘s explosive innings of 96 runs.
RR’s start was rocky, losing both Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel early, with scores of just 1 and 7 runs, respectively. However, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi stepped up, narrowly missing a century for the second consecutive match. He played a crucial role in propelling his team to a strong total, scoring 96 runs off 47 balls, including 7 sixes and 8 fours.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja contributed significantly with an unbeaten 45 runs off 35 balls. Donovan Ferreira made a late surge, scoring 27 runs in the final over and finishing with 38 runs off just 11 balls, featuring 4 sixes and 2 fours. RR concluded their innings at 214 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
For GT, Mohammad Siraj claimed 1 wicket for 42 runs in 4 overs, while Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets for 35 runs. Jason Holder also secured 2 wickets, conceding 27 runs, and Prasidh Krishna took 1 wicket for 42 runs.
The second innings promises to be thrilling. With Jofra Archer leading a strong bowling attack, RR is well-equipped to defend their total of 214 runs. However, if GT’s top three batsmen find their rhythm, they could chase down the target of 215 runs.
