Anu Malik Remembers Dharmendra: A Family-Like Bond

Mumbai, May 30: Music composer Anu Malik recently shared heartfelt memories of his relationship with the late actor Dharmendra. He described their bond as one filled with warmth and affection. Anu Malik recalled how he frequently visited the Deol family, feeling like a member of their household.

In a conversation, Anu Malik mentioned, “I worked on the songs for Sunny Deol’s early film ‘Soni Mahival.’ Dharmendra loved the melodies I created. We often enjoyed each other’s company. One day, he asked me to create a lively song that would make people dance. This inspired me to compose the famous track ‘Tinku Jiya.’ Dharmendra was always excited to hear my music and openly shared his opinions on new songs.”

Anu Malik grew up admiring Dharmendra’s films and music. He said, “Since childhood, I have been a fan of Dharmendra’s acting and screen presence. I often asked him about the stories behind his old songs and films, especially the iconic song ‘Aaj Mausam Bada Beiman Hai.’ Whenever I mentioned this song, Dharmendra would smile, and that smile remains etched in my memory.”

During the conversation, Anu Malik also spoke about Hema Malini, noting that she appreciated his work during the film ‘Maan.’ He expressed, “I am always amazed by Hema Malini’s talent and hard work. She is not just a beautiful actress but also an incredibly dedicated artist. No amount of praise is enough for her.”

Reflecting on Dharmendra receiving the posthumous Padma Vibhushan award, Anu Malik shared his emotional response. “I felt very moved when I saw Ahana crying while accepting the award. It was a proud moment for us.”

Regarding Anu Malik’s musical career, he has given numerous hit songs to Hindi cinema. From the 1990s to the 2000s, his music was iconic. Tracks like ‘Baazigar O Baazigar,’ ‘Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhein,’ ‘Chura Ke Dil Mera,’ ‘Sandese Aate Hain,’ ‘Tumse Milke Dil Ka Hai Jo Haal,’ ‘Gori Gori,’ ‘Ishq Kamina,’ ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage,’ and ‘Ek Garam Chai Ki Pyali Ho’ remain popular today. He has composed music for major stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Sunny Deol, creating memorable films. Anu Malik has also received several prestigious awards for his work in films like ‘Refugee’ and ‘Main Hoon Na.’
