Delhi Allocates ₹620 Million for Animal Health Services, Announces Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, April 5: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Sunday that the National Capital is progressing by balancing cultural heritage with sensitivity and empathy.

In a post on the social media platform X, CM Gupta shared key provisions made in Delhi’s budget to strengthen animal welfare and health services.

She revealed that ₹620 million has been allocated to enhance animal health services. This funding aims to modernize animal hospitals and improve advanced treatment facilities, including surgeries and vaccinations.

CM Gupta also stated that the Delhi government is working to upgrade the existing veterinary infrastructure to ensure better care for animals. This initiative will increase the capacity of government facilities, making quality treatment more accessible for both pets and stray animals.

In addition to health services, the Chief Minister announced the construction of 10 modern cow shelters in the initial phase. She mentioned that this number will be gradually increased to 40, reflecting the Delhi government’s long-term commitment.

To combat animal cruelty, the CM stated that SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) committees are being established in every district. These committees will ensure swift and strict action in cases of animal abuse, strengthening enforcement at the grassroots level.

“Our goal is to create a Delhi where empathy for every living being is a shared value and compassion becomes our identity,” said the Chief Minister.

These announcements are part of a comprehensive initiative by the Delhi government aimed at integrating humane administration with urban development, creating a balanced and sensitive development model for the city.
