
Lucknow, May 23: A shocking incident has emerged from Tejas Hospital located in the Indaurabagh area of Lucknow, where a female patient was allegedly assaulted during her treatment. The accused, Vijay Kumar Giri, who is both the hospital operator and a doctor, has been swiftly arrested by the police. During interrogation, Giri confessed to his crime.
According to the media cell of the Lucknow Commissioner of Police, on May 21, the BKT police received information about the assault that took place in the operating room while the patient was being treated. Upon receiving the report, a police team promptly arrived at the hospital and registered a case based on the victim’s statement.
A case has been filed against Vijay Kumar Giri, a resident of Rajanapur in Sitapur, under sections 64(2)(E) of the BNS and 3(2)(5) of the SC/ST Act. The police arrested him at the scene of the crime.
During questioning, the accused admitted his wrongdoing and apologized to the victim. He revealed that the victim was admitted to Tejas Hospital for treatment on May 19, and the assault occurred on May 21 in the operating room. The police have also seized the clothes worn by the accused at the time of the incident for forensic examination.
The hospital was operating in a rented building. Giri, originally from Sitapur, was running the hospital in Lucknow. The police took the matter seriously and acted quickly. After his arrest, Giri was presented in court and remanded to jail.
The BKT police station chief took immediate action by forming a team to gather evidence. The victim underwent a medical examination as well. Police sources indicate that the accused has confessed to the entire sequence of events during initial questioning.
