Pathankot, May 23: The political landscape in Punjab has become increasingly heated following remarks made by former cricketer Harbhajan Singh. Ashwini Sharma, the acting president of the BJP Punjab, accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of deceiving the public. He stated that Harbhajan Singh has exposed the truth about the Punjab government.
During a conversation in Chandigarh, Sharma criticized the AAP for its comments regarding Singh, asserting that the party is orchestrating a plot against him. He claimed that the Punjab government is not working in the public’s interest, with its leaders and ministers preoccupied with corruption.
Harbhajan Singh recently took to social media platform X, stating, “When the right time comes, I will respond to everything. I have not insulted any of your leaders. Why should I tarnish my reputation? Those calling me a traitor should first ask their own people how much the Rajya Sabha seat in Punjab was sold for. If they don’t tell you, I will reveal who received how much bribe and from whom. Punjab has been plundered, and ministers have been appointed to facilitate this.”
Sharma emphasized that the public is ready to hold the Punjab government accountable. He noted that citizens are increasingly frustrated with the current administration.
He further criticized those who claim to be honest and advocate for anti-corruption measures, stating that their corrupt faces have now been revealed. He pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic, alcohol deliveries were made under the guise of the crisis, leading to significant corruption. He urged that those involved in land scams in cities like Ludhiana, Mohali, and Kharar should also be prepared for scrutiny.
