New Delhi, May 23: As Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha) approaches, debates surrounding animal sacrifice have intensified across various regions of the country. In this context, Maulana Mahmood Madani, the president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, emphasized that sacrifice is a significant act of worship in Islam. He urged every Muslim to make every effort to fulfill their obligation of sacrifice.
Maulana Madani provided several recommendations regarding the upcoming festival. According to a statement released by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, he stated, “Sacrifice is an essential act of worship that is obligatory for every capable Muslim. There is no alternative during the days of sacrifice. Therefore, every capable Muslim should strive to fulfill their obligation.”
He appealed to all those performing the sacrifice to fully adhere to the guidelines issued by the government and local authorities. He stressed the importance of avoiding the sacrifice of animals that are legally prohibited.
Additionally, he stated, “Special attention should be paid to cleanliness. Animal remains should never be discarded on roads, streets, or in drains. Instead, they should be securely placed in plastic bags and transported to designated disposal sites. Full cooperation with municipal and sanitation workers is essential. Efforts should also be made to ensure that our actions do not cause any inconvenience or discomfort to others.”
In his statement, Maulana Madani urged compliance with all legal regulations and administrative procedures during the purchase and transportation of animals. He also advised against sharing images and videos of the sacrifice on social media. In case of provocation, threats, or harassment from communal elements, he urged individuals to act with patience, restraint, and wisdom, and to report the matter to the relevant police station or administration immediately. He cautioned against taking the law into one’s own hands under any circumstances.
Furthermore, Muslims were encouraged to contact Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind or its local units if they encounter any obstacles or difficulties during the sacrifice process.
