Hyderabad, May 23: In a thrilling match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 55 runs. This victory allowed SRH to break a significant record previously held by Gujarat Titans.

Batting first against RCB, SRH scored an impressive 255 runs, losing just four wickets in their 20 overs. This marked the ninth occasion in IPL 2026 where Sunrisers Hyderabad surpassed the 200-run mark. With this achievement, SRH has now become the team with the most scores over 200 runs in a single IPL season, surpassing Gujarat Titans, who had set the record with eight such scores in IPL 2025.

Winning the toss, SRH opted to bat first, with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma providing a solid start by adding 45 runs for the first wicket. Head scored 26 runs off 16 balls, while Sharma made an impressive 56 runs off 22 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes. Ishan Kishan played a remarkable innings, scoring 79 runs off 46 balls, including eight fours and three sixes. Heinrich Klaasen continued his excellent form, contributing 51 runs off just 24 balls. In the final overs, Nitish Kumar Reddy added an unbeaten 29 runs off 12 balls, hitting one four and three sixes.

Chasing a daunting target of 256 runs, RCB managed to score only 200 runs, losing four wickets in their 20 overs. Rajat Patidar led the innings with a captain’s knock of 56 runs off 39 balls. Venkatesh Iyer also made a notable contribution, scoring 44 runs off just 19 balls. In the closing overs, Krunal Pandya remained not out with 41 runs off 31 balls, while Tim David added 15 runs. Despite the loss, RCB successfully secured a spot in the first qualifier.
