Sirsa, May 19: Congress MP Kumari Selja has accused the central government of failing in various areas, including inflation, law and order, education, fuel prices, and NEET management.
Addressing the global crisis’s impact, Selja stated that the government has kept the situation under wraps until the elections. She noted that Rahul Gandhi had warned that fuel prices would surge immediately after the elections. “The country is in crisis, but the government is reluctant to disclose the truth. They are shifting the entire burden onto the people,” she remarked.
Selja criticized the government’s advice to citizens to cycle, stay home, and cut expenses, urging the administration to first account for its own expenditures. “During the elections, the government concealed the country’s real situation from the public and misled its supporters. Now, they are offloading the burden onto the citizens. Due to the government’s misguided policies, our economy is on the brink of collapse.”
Commenting on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s warning against offering prayers on the streets before Eid, she emphasized the need for sensitivity towards all religious festivals. “We must ensure that no wrongdoing occurs and that every festival is celebrated peacefully.”
Regarding Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim of eradicating Naxalism, Selja expressed skepticism. “While Naxalism should not exist, the manner in which it has been addressed remains to be seen. We hope that efforts are made to guide people correctly without resorting to violence.”
When questioned about rising petrol and diesel prices while the Chief Minister promotes cycling, she remarked, “How long will this pretense last? This charade must end. It is unreasonable to impose restrictions solely on the public. How many people can earn a living by cycling? The government is placing all burdens on the citizens without accepting any responsibility.”
Selja pointed out that the central government has failed to provide direction for the past decade, stating, “The situation is dire, and this government is unable to regain the public’s trust.”
On the NEET paper leak, she questioned the government’s preparedness and its failure to protect students’ futures. “Such incidents should not occur under this government’s watch. Students are forced to protest during their crucial study time.”
Finally, she addressed the state’s law and order situation, stating, “The condition in the state is alarming. No citizen feels safe, and the situation is spiraling out of control. Women, in particular, are feeling insecure.”
