65th Edition of Fit India Sunday on Cycle Celebrated Across 5,000 Locations

New Delhi, March 15: The 65th edition of ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm across more than 5,000 locations nationwide. Over 300 ‘Fit India Champions’, ambassadors, and special guests led the cycling event. This initiative spanned from Kokrajhar in Odisha to Badal in Punjab and down to Alappuzha in the south.

In Patna, Bihar’s Youth Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh participated in ‘Sunday on Cycle’, setting an inspiring example. Reema Trisha Halooi, an assistant commissioner in Assam, MMA fighter, karate black belt holder, and experienced cyclist, also joined the event. Despite suffering an injury a few months ago, she made a strong comeback to her fitness routine by participating in today’s cycling event.

The main event took place in New Delhi, where over 10,000 people took part. On Sunday morning, Connaught Place in Delhi resembled a festive gathering. The main campaign of ‘Fit India’, ‘Sunday on Cycle’, was organized in collaboration with the Raahgiri Foundation, marking the return of ‘Raahgiri Day’.

This special edition saw participants ranging from three-year-old children to seniors aged 70. They gathered to engage in various fitness activities such as skipping, Zumba, yoga, and several fun games before cycling around Connaught Place.

This week’s event was dedicated to consumer rights. Delhi’s Home Minister Ashish Sood and several special guests were present, including former IAF pilot turned fitness expert Captain Akshay Chopra, master trainer and Zumba instructor Prateek Kundiyal, gold medalist Neelam from the Under-23 Asian Wrestling Championship, gold medalist Priya Malik from the 2024 Under-23 Asian Wrestling Championship, and DDG Mayank Srivastava from the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

Ashish Sood stated that initiatives like Raahgiri Day and Sunday on Cycle are significant steps towards making Delhi healthier and safer. He emphasized that increasing walking, cycling, and public transport usage not only improves road safety but also reduces air pollution and fosters sustainable travel habits. Sood urged everyone to take responsibility for clean air, stating that it cannot be achieved by desire alone. He encouraged people to incorporate these good habits into their daily lives.
