Hyderabad, May 3: Despite being sidelined due to illness, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy emphasized the importance of adapting to circumstances and prioritizing the team’s success. The 22-year-old was unable to participate in the IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. In his absence, SRH gave a debut opportunity to Smaran Ravichandran.
Nitish Reddy has emerged as a key player for SRH in IPL 2026, showcasing impressive performances, including winning the ‘Player of the Match’ title in the previous game against KKR. This season, he has scored 193 runs in 8 innings across 9 matches and taken 6 wickets. Reiterating his commitment to the team, Reddy stated that collective success outweighs personal achievements.
Before the match, Reddy told broadcasters, “For me, it’s about what the team needs from me. I just want to give my 100 percent. I have no personal goals, like scoring a certain number of runs or taking a specific number of wickets. In any situation, I want to do whatever the team requires from me.”
Reddy acknowledged that SRH’s aggressive style of play does not always guarantee success. He stressed the need for experienced players to step up during challenging times.
He remarked, “Not every match goes our way. The way we play is aggressive, and sometimes this approach can fail. In such situations, I, Heinrich Klaasen, Salil, and Aniket need to step up and set a good score.”
The all-rounder praised the fearlessness and innovative bowling techniques of young bowlers like Saqib Mahmood and Praful Hinge, stating, “These players are young and still learning. They are ready to give their best. Their bowling styles are new to the opponents. It’s truly commendable to see them perform under pressure on such a big stage.”
