Promoting Fitness: Sunday on Cycle Initiative Gains Momentum in India

New Delhi, May 3: To enhance fitness awareness among citizens, the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ initiative is held weekly across various locations in India under the Fit India Movement. This event aims to engage different segments of society, promoting a message of fitness awareness. Recently, ‘Sunday on Cycle’ took place in New Delhi, attended by Fit India director Sushant Kandwal.

In a conversation with the media, Kandwal stated, “This is our 72nd edition. Every Sunday, we organize ‘Sunday on Cycle.’ Our goal is to bring together people from diverse backgrounds. This time, we have included our farmer brothers, who are our food providers, and their participation has been significant.”

He emphasized that the campaign has gained such popularity that people are voluntarily joining in. Instead of resting on Sundays, many are happily participating in this initiative. This is a notable achievement for us.

Kandwal mentioned that they are successfully fulfilling the vision set by the Prime Minister when he launched the Fit India Movement, promoting the slogan ‘Fitness ka Doz, Aadha Ghanta Roz’ (Half an hour of fitness daily).

Kisan Kumar from the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, who participated in ‘Sunday on Cycle,’ remarked, “Cycling is commonly used in fields and villages. This is a commendable government initiative that promotes health and fitness.”

The ‘Sunday on Cycle’ program aims to raise awareness about fitness, combat the growing obesity issue in the country, and promote environmental consciousness. Cycling is also beneficial for the environment.
