Tragic Incident in Ballia: Four Lives Lost in Ganga River Drowning

Lucknow, May 3: A tragic incident occurred in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, where four individuals drowned in the Ganga River while bathing. Fortunately, local boatmen managed to rescue two others. Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister, Brajesh Pathak, expressed his condolences regarding the incident.

In a post on the social media platform X, Deputy CM Pathak stated, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the unfortunate loss of lives at the Shri Ramapur Ghat in Ballia district. My heartfelt sympathies are with the grieving families.”

He further prayed to Lord Shri Hari to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to endure this unbearable sorrow. “Om Shanti,” he added.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his sorrow over the Ballia incident. In a post on X, he remarked, “The loss of lives in the unfortunate incident at the river ghat in Ballia while people were taking selfies and making reels is extremely tragic. My condolences are with the mourning families.”

He prayed to Lord Shri Ram to grant salvation to the departed souls and provide the grieving families with the strength to bear this immense sorrow.

The incident took place at the Shri Ramapur Ghat in the Kotwali area of Ballia district. People had gathered at the Ganga ghat for a mundan ceremony when six young men and women suddenly drowned in the river, causing panic at the ghat.

Local residents quickly informed the police and called in a team of divers. By the time help arrived, some boatmen had already rescued one young man and one young woman from the water. Unfortunately, four individuals remain unaccounted for.

This incident in Ballia comes on the heels of a recent tragedy in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, where at least 13 people drowned in the Bargi Dam reservoir. That accident occurred on April 30, when a cruise capsized due to strong winds, leading to the drowning of those on board.
