Nearly 4.7 Million Domestic LPG Cylinders Distributed in a Day: Government Report

New Delhi, May 3: On Saturday, approximately 4.7 million domestic LPG cylinders were distributed across the country. This distribution indicates that, despite military conflicts in West Asia and the subsequent blockade of the Hormuz Strait, there has been no reduction or disruption in gas supply.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum, there was a 99% increase in online LPG cylinder bookings based on industry data, with nearly 4.74 million cylinders booked and around 4.7 million delivered.

The ministry also reported that there have been no shortages reported among LPG distributors.

The government has assured that all measures are being taken to ensure energy supply, maritime operations, and assistance to Indian citizens amid the changing situation in West Asia.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas informed that enforcement actions to curb LPG hoarding and black marketing are ongoing nationwide. A government release stated that over 1,900 raids have been conducted across the country as of yesterday.

Additionally, it was noted that since March of this year, approximately 604,000 PNG connections have been gasified, with infrastructure prepared for an additional 268,000 connections, bringing the total number of connections to 872,000.

The ministry further shared that since April 3, public sector oil marketing companies have organized over 10,100 awareness camps, selling around 175,000 5 kg FTL cylinders. As of yesterday, more than 3,700 5 kg FTL cylinders have been sold through over 130 camps.
