Beijing, April 26: According to reports from China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd., as of April 25, the Yangtze River Delta’s railway has successfully completed 1.006 million TEUs in sea-rail intermodal transport this year. This marks an 11.3% increase compared to last year and surpasses the one million TEU milestone 14 days earlier than the previous year.
Since the beginning of this year, the Yangtze River Delta region has continuously enhanced its sea-rail intermodal transport capacity between coastal ports and inland areas. Currently, the average daily volume of containers moving through major ports, such as Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan, has reached approximately 8,800 TEUs. The number of regular train services has increased to 119, focusing on the export of photovoltaic modules, home appliances, and hardware components.
Additionally, the railway department has launched four railway logistics stations, including West Taizhou and North Xinjiang, added seven new sea-rail intermodal freight train routes, and optimized 24 existing routes. Starting in the second quarter, with increased transport capacity and improved organizational efficiency, sea-rail intermodal transport at major ports has maintained a high level of operation, effectively supporting foreign trade exports and the stability of industrial and supply chains.
