Priyanka Chaturvedi Criticizes Election Commissions Actions Ahead of Elections

Mumbai, May 28: Priyanka Chaturvedi, spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT) and former MP, responded to the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the Election Commission. She emphasized that the real issue is not about the powers of the Election Commission, but rather the timing of the Special Investigation Reports (SIR) during elections, which could benefit certain parties and violate citizens’ fundamental rights.

Chaturvedi stated, “The Supreme Court discussed the powers and jurisdiction of the Election Commission, and there is no disagreement on that. The core issue is not whether the Election Commission can conduct SIRs. There are two main concerns: first, can the Election Commission initiate this process just before the elections? Second, when people’s names are removed under SIR, they do not have enough time to appeal. Elections conclude, and people are still appealing afterward. This violates their fundamental rights.”

Targeting central agencies like the CBI and ED, Chaturvedi accused them of operating on orders from others.

She remarked, “The public is afraid of these agencies. Everyone knows that when agency officials visit someone, they are not there for questioning but for arrests. The BJP is coercing every opposition leader into joining their party by threatening them with imprisonment. Investigations against those who join the BJP are halted. The misuse of agencies by the BJP to recruit members is now evident.”

On youth issues, Chaturvedi noted that the BJP is aware of the discontent among young people regarding the government. Problems like NEET paper leaks, the mismanagement of NEET-PG, seat sales, and irregularities in cut-offs are affecting the future of the youth. Additionally, irregularities in CBSE matters and poor implementation of UGC guidelines are raising serious concerns. Unemployment is at an all-time high, leading to widespread anger among youth and their parents.

Chaturvedi concluded that the government has failed in the fields of education and employment. She urged the central government to seriously consider these issues and take concrete steps to secure the future of the youth.
