Diksha and Hitashee Shine as Hannah Green Eyes Third Consecutive Title

Gold Coast, March 21: In the third round of the Australian WPGA Championship, Hitashee Bakshi and Diksha Dagar have both secured a tie for sixth place, each at 9-under par. Bakshi made a remarkable leap with a score of 4-under 67, while Dagar showcased an impressive performance with a 6-under 65, moving from joint 16th into the top 10.

Meanwhile, Hannah Green is on track to secure her third consecutive title. Following victories at the Women’s Australian Open and the HSBC Women’s World Championship, Green maintained a two-shot lead at 14-under par with a score of 4-under 67.

Switzerland’s Vanessa Necht and South Africa’s Cassandra Alexander are putting up a strong challenge against her. Green’s round included seven birdies and four bogeys.

Bakshi’s start was a mix of highs and lows, as she recorded two birdies and three bogeys in the first eight holes. However, she made a stunning comeback, scoring consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, adding another birdie on the 14th, and finishing strong with an eagle on the 18th hole. Her total score now stands at 9-under, five shots behind the leader. Previously, she had rounds of 69 and 68.

Dagar delivered one of the best performances of the day. After starting with rounds of 67 and 72, she played flawlessly for the first 11 holes, making several birdies without a bogey. Despite a single bogey on the 13th hole, she quickly rebounded with three consecutive birdies, finishing with an impressive score of 65.

The third Indian player to make the cut, Pranavi Urs, faced a challenging round, scoring 4-under 75. Despite an eagle on the fifth hole and a birdie on the seventh, a series of bogeys and a double bogey pushed her down the leaderboard.

Seven-time LPGA winner and major champion Green acknowledged the pressure of being at the top of the leaderboard. She stated that as a tournament favorite, she anticipates tough competition and wouldn’t be surprised if any player breaks records on the final day.
