Chennai, May 19: In the 63rd match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered an impressive performance, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets. The star of SRH’s victory was Ishan Kishan, who scored a powerful 70 runs off 47 balls.
Ishan expressed his awareness of the challenging pitch and emphasized his desire to stay at the crease until the final over. He dedicated his innings to his family, hitting seven fours and three sixes before being dismissed, bringing SRH close to victory. For his remarkable performance, Ishan was awarded the ‘Player of the Match.’
The wicketkeeper-batsman shared his thoughts after the match, stating, “While I was keeping, I felt the wicket was not easy, especially with the spinners bowling and the slower balls working well. I just needed to bat until the last over. It was about staying there and believing in myself. You can’t doubt yourself at any moment. When you remain at the crease, it becomes difficult for bowlers to get it right every time. Both [myself and Klaasen] were just playing our shots.”
Ishan revealed that his cousin had recently passed away, and his brother was attending a match for the first time with the family. He dedicated his innings to them, saying, “Sometimes I feel it’s about inspiration, and my inspiration in this match was my cousin, whose sister recently passed away. It has been a tough time for our family, and they were here to watch the match for the first time. That’s why I wanted to finish the match for them, and I’m glad they were here to see this innings.”
With this five-wicket victory over CSK, SRH has secured their place in the playoffs.
