Washington, May 19: The United States will host the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting on October 30-31 in Atlanta, Georgia. This announcement was made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday. The decision comes as Washington accelerates preparations for several major international conferences scheduled for this year.
The U.S. Department of State stated that foreign ministers from the world’s leading economies will participate in this meeting. The primary aim is to advance the G20’s core mission of promoting global stability and prosperity.
According to the statement, discussions will focus on addressing global economic challenges, strengthening international cooperation, and supporting ‘open markets’ and ‘robust and reliable supply chains.’
This announcement coincides with preparations for the G20 Leaders’ Summit, which will be hosted by President Donald Trump in December.
The State Department noted that Atlanta was selected due to its status as a “major hub for diplomacy, trade, and global engagement,” making it an appropriate location for such important discussions.
The media release also mentioned that President Trump will host the G20 Leaders’ Summit at Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida, on December 14-15. This summit will coincide with the celebrations of America’s 250th anniversary.
The State Department has yet to provide details on the meeting’s agenda, the delegations from participating countries, or any bilateral meetings that may occur.
