Cyber Crime Ring Busted in Ranchi; Five Arrested

Ranchi, May 29: Police have dismantled a cyber crime ring in the Gonda police station area of Ranchi, arresting five individuals. Authorities seized a significant number of bank passbooks, debit cards, checkbooks, mobile phones, and Aadhaar cards from the suspects. A case has been registered at the Gonda police station, and further action is underway.

According to Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan, intelligence was received on the night of May 28 around 8 PM. It indicated that some youths were involved in cyber fraud activities at a flat near Rock View Apartment in Chandni Chowk, Gonda area. To verify the information and take action, a team led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Sadar was formed, including the Gonda police station in-charge and armed forces.

The police team raided the flat and found five individuals in suspicious circumstances. During the search, they recovered 50 passbooks issued by various banks under different names, 26 debit cards, eight checkbooks, 13 mobile phones, and three Aadhaar cards.

All items have been confiscated. During interrogation, the suspects revealed that they opened bank accounts using forged identity documents, which were then used to carry out cyber fraud.

The suspects also mentioned that the flat belonged to a person named ‘Nikhil Bhaiya,’ who had called them there and taught them how to commit cyber crimes. Among those arrested are Kajal Kumar Mandal from Jamtara, Anand Kumar and Shakib Ansari from Ramgarh, Bikki Kumar from Bokaro, and a minor from Ramgarh.

The raiding team included Gonda police station in-charge Abhay Kumar Sinha, Sub-Inspector Sunny Kumar, Om Prakash Prasad, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramjanm Prasad, and armed personnel. Police are currently searching for the entire network and other absconding suspects.
