Mumbai, May 29: The Fire Department in Ghaziabad has ramped up its vigilance amidst rising temperatures this summer. With increasing heat, the load on electrical appliances in high-rise buildings is also rising, leading to a higher risk of short circuits and fire incidents.
In response, the Fire Department is continuously inspecting fire safety measures in the city’s high-rise societies and buildings. According to officials, various mock drills are being conducted in multiple high-rise buildings to raise awareness about fire safety among residents. These drills educate residents on how to safely evacuate during a fire, use firefighting equipment, and ensure that the fire safety systems in their buildings are always operational.
The department has inspected fire safety systems in several residential societies in the Vaishali and Indirapuram areas. During these inspections, many buildings were found to have non-functional firefighting systems, alarms, hydrants, and other fire safety equipment. Consequently, builders, RWA officials, and maintenance teams have been instructed to repair and make all equipment operational immediately.
The Fire Department clarified that notices were issued to the concerned buildings under the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Act, 2022. However, legal action has now been initiated against building owners and RWAs that failed to rectify their fire safety systems.
The department has filed a case in court against 14 high-rise residential societies in the Vaishali and Indirapuram areas. Notable societies include Pinnacle Tower Society, Antariksh Green Apartments, Aditya Mega City, Himgiri Tower, Nilgiri Tower, Shipra Riviera Tower, Neelkanth Tower, HRC Professional, Mahalaxmi Tower, Niho Scottish Garden, Royal Tower, Amrapali Village, Supertech Icon Society, and Panchsheel Buildtech Pvt. Ltd.
The Fire Department has warned that any other buildings failing to maintain their fire safety systems according to established standards will also face strict legal action. The department urges residents to use electrical appliances cautiously during the summer and to keep fire safety systems in their buildings operational to prevent major accidents.
