IndiGo Reports ₹2,537 Crore Loss in Q4, Down from ₹3,067 Crore Profit Last Year

Mumbai, May 29: IndiGo’s parent company, InterGlobe Aviation, reported a consolidated net loss of ₹2,537 crore for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26. This is a significant drop from the net profit of ₹3,067.5 crore recorded in the same quarter last year.

According to an exchange filing, the airline’s operational revenue saw a slight increase of 1% year-on-year, totaling ₹22,438 crore, compared to ₹22,152 crore during the same period last year.

IndiGo noted that a one-time charge of ₹250 crore also impacted its profitability during the quarter. The airline’s EBITDA for this quarter stood at ₹6,396 crore, up from ₹5,953 crore in the previous year.

However, there was a sharp decline in the EBITDA margin, which fell to 3.6%, down from 27.5% a year earlier. Conversely, the EBITDA-R margin improved to 28.5%, compared to 26.9% in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Operationally, despite challenges due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the airline’s capacity increased by 3.4%, reaching 43.6 billion available seat kilometers (ASK). Nonetheless, the number of passengers decreased by 1.1% year-on-year, totaling 31.6 million.

The company attributed its weak performance to a challenging business environment throughout fiscal year 2026.

Commenting on the results, InterGlobe Aviation’s CEO Rahul Bhatia stated that the year was filled with serious operational challenges, significantly affecting the company’s profitability. However, he emphasized that the airline’s core business remained strong.

He remarked, “Fiscal year 2026 was a year marked by a highly challenging operating environment, which had a substantial impact on our profitability.” He added, “Despite these circumstances, the performance of our core business remained robust. During the year, we achieved a 9.5% increase in capacity and over 6% growth in total revenue.”

On Friday, shares of InterGlobe Aviation closed at ₹4,418.40 on the BSE, down 3.27%.
