Moscow, May 29: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval visited Russia’s National Space Center in Moscow on Friday. He was accompanied by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. During the visit, Doval engaged in a live conversation with the Russian crew aboard the International Space Station (ISS), named after the world’s first female cosmonaut, Valentina Tereshkova.
According to Russia’s state space agency, Roscosmos, Doval and Manturov toured a space technology exhibition featuring the world’s most powerful four-chamber liquid rocket engine and models of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) base module.
Roscosmos stated, “Following this, representatives from both countries visited the Roscosmos Joint Industrial Information Center (JIIC), designed to monitor and analyze big data related to the rocket and space industry. It will also manage future operations of the ROS.”
Doval and Manturov later spoke live with Russian ISS crew members Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Andrey Babkin, and Sergey Mikayev, who discussed their spacewalk conducted on May 27.
Videos of NSA Doval closely examining the official car of Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space in 1961, have gone viral on social media.
During their visit to the space center, Doval and Manturov also held a meeting focused on India-Russia space cooperation.
Doval’s trip to Moscow is part of his participation in the 14th meeting of high representatives for security affairs, hosted by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoigu.
While addressing NSA and security chiefs from various countries on Thursday, Doval emphasized that there can be no double standards in the fight against terrorism. Responsible nations must evaluate their decisions on whether to support sponsors of terrorism or confront them with decisive action.
He also called for special attention to the situation in West Asia, stressing the importance of ensuring safe and uninterrupted trade through international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.
The Indian Embassy in Russia highlighted Doval’s remarks during the forum on social media platform X, stating, “During the discussion, the NSA said there can be no double standards in the fight against terrorism. Responsible nations must assess their options and decide whether to support the funding of terrorism or counter it with decisive action.”
On Thursday, Doval also met with Shoigu during the forum. The Indian Embassy noted, “They reviewed ongoing cooperation in defense, security, energy, and economic relations. Both sides shared their views on the upcoming BRICS NSA meeting in New Delhi.”
