Bihar Government Intensifies Monitoring Against LPG Black Marketing

Patna, March 13: The Bihar government has issued strict directives to all districts to enhance monitoring and supervision to curb black marketing and illegal storage of domestic LPG cylinders.

On Thursday, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh held a high-level review meeting with district officials and police superintendents across the state. The meeting focused on concerns related to the current global energy scenario.

Also present were divisional commissioners and deputy inspectors general. Several senior officials participated in the review, including Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Director of the Information and Public Relations Department Anil Kumar, Special Secretary of the Food and Consumer Protection Department Upendra Kumar, and representatives from major petroleum companies.

During the meeting, the Development Commissioner instructed all district administrations and police officials to strictly prevent black marketing, illegal storage, and unauthorized sales of domestic LPG cylinders.

Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary directed officials to conduct special monitoring campaigns in all districts and ensure regular inspections of LPG agencies, warehouses, and distribution systems. He warned that immediate legal action should be taken against individuals or agencies involved in irregularities, and officials must ensure that domestic LPG cylinders are not used for commercial purposes.

Director General of Police Vinay Kumar instructed police superintendents statewide to closely monitor social media and take swift action against those spreading rumors or engaging in black marketing.

The review meeting also mandated the establishment of control rooms in all districts to address public grievances related to LPG supply. District administrations and police were urged to maintain close coordination to ensure consumers face no inconvenience.

Officials were directed to promptly resolve complaints regarding domestic gas cylinder distribution to ensure uninterrupted supply. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Executive Director and Head of Indian Oil Corporation for Bihar and Jharkhand, clarified that there are sufficient LPG cylinders available in the state and the supply system remains normal.

He urged consumers not to panic and avoid unnecessary hoarding of cylinders. He also mentioned that due to a technical glitch in the Indian Oil system, OTP verification for deliveries has been temporarily suspended.

Representatives from petroleum companies further assured that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or PNG gas supply in the state.
