Devotees Flock to Ujjain for Kamala Ekadashi Celebrations at Mahakal Temple

Ujjain, May 27: A unique wave of devotion swept through the renowned Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on the auspicious occasion of Kamala Ekadashi, observed during the Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. Early Wednesday morning, devotees lined up from late at night to witness the divine Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal.

The temple saw an overwhelming crowd of devotees due to Kamala Ekadashi. On this day, Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Lord Vishnu (Hari), adorned with bel leaves and a garland of tulsi.

As per daily rituals, the temple doors were opened after receiving permission from Lord Veerabhadra. Devotees were mesmerized by the sight of their deity. Thousands of devotees from across the country and abroad filled the temple premises, chanting “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Mahakal.”

Following this, the Mahanirvani Akhara performed a water abhishekam for Baba, followed by a ceremonial bath with Panchamrit. Baba’s appearance during the special adornment for Kamala Ekadashi was truly captivating.

Baba was adorned with a crescent moon and trident on his head. He was decorated with bhang, sandalwood, dry fruits, and jewelry, presenting a regal form that left devotees in awe. Subsequently, the Mahanirvani Akhara offered Bhasma to Baba. During the Bhasma Aarti, the sounds of conch shells, damru, and bells created a divine and spiritual atmosphere. The entire temple resonated with the sounds of bells, conch shells, and chanting, enveloping the space in devotion and faith.

In the Nandi Hall, devotees were seen immersed in their worship of Baba. On special Ekadashis, devotees also experience the divine vision of Lord Mahakal with Goddess Parvati in his lap, symbolizing the union of Shiva and Shakti. The temple priests perform special rituals on Ekadashi, reciting the Vishnu Sahasranama and Shiva Mahimna Stotra, praying for the welfare of all.
