Shimla, May 27: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhu Singh Sukhu has strongly countered the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) allegations of violating the code of conduct. Rejecting the BJP’s objections regarding the appointment of the Chief Secretary and the convening of a Cabinet meeting, CM Sukhu stated that there is a significant difference between the BJP’s words and actions.
While addressing journalists, Sukhu remarked, “There is a vast disparity between what the BJP says and what it does. During the tenure of Jairam Thakur as Chief Minister in 2020-21, Cabinet meetings were also held during the Panchayati Raj, District Council, and Municipal Corporation elections. We have convened a Cabinet meeting as well.”
Accusing the BJP of double standards, CM Sukhu criticized the rising fuel prices, asserting that the central government is burdening the public while the state government is working for the people’s convenience.
In a significant announcement, the Chief Minister declared that any restaurant, bar, or shop in Himachal Pradesh that has the capacity can now operate 24 hours. Sukhu stated, “We have granted permission for all to operate around the clock. This decision is a crucial step towards promoting tourism and strengthening the local economy.”
Regarding the local body elections, Sukhu expressed satisfaction, stating, “People have participated with great enthusiasm. I believe the results of the Panchayat elections are starting to come in, while the counting for the District Council and BDC will follow later.”
The Chief Minister thanked the public, stating that high voter turnout is a symbol of the strength of democracy. He claimed that Congress candidates are receiving substantial support from the people.
