
Patna, May 27: Police encounters with criminals continue in Bihar. Early Wednesday morning, a wanted criminal was injured in a shootout with police in the Masaurhi area of Patna. Another criminal was also apprehended during the operation.
According to police reports, the Masaurhi police received a tip-off about two criminals wanted in over 20 serious cases, including robbery and violations of the Arms Act. They were allegedly planning to rob a gold and silver shop in the Masaurhi jurisdiction.
In response to this information, a special raid team was formed under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police of Patna, with the East Patna Police Superintendent, Parichay Kumar, overseeing the operation. Upon locating the criminals, the police attempted to apprehend them. During the operation, the criminals unexpectedly opened fire on the police, hitting a police vehicle.
East Patna Police Superintendent Parichay Kumar stated that the police team acted with restraint and courage, responding in self-defense. One shot struck a criminal in the leg. The injured criminal has been identified as Ajay Paswan. Another wanted criminal, Ajay Yadav, was also arrested at the scene.
The injured criminal was promptly taken into police custody and sent to the hospital for treatment. Authorities recovered a pistol, a homemade firearm, four live cartridges, and two empty shells from the arrested criminals.
It is noteworthy that on May 13, a robbery incident involving a cash van from CMS Company was executed at gunpoint. Within just 36 hours, police successfully apprehended several criminals linked to that case, including the two arrested in this encounter. A forensic team has been called to the scene, and an investigation is underway.
