Over 60 Goats and Livestock Rescued in Jamner Ahead of Bakrid

Jalgaon, May 27: In a significant operation ahead of Bakrid, authorities in Jamner, Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, rescued over 60 goats and other livestock from alleged illegal transport and unlawful slaughter. A joint team from the municipal corporation and police conducted surprise raids in various areas on Tuesday. The police have registered a case against the accused and initiated an investigation.

This operation was carried out just before Bakrid, amid heightened surveillance due to concerns about illegal animal transport and slaughter. The Jamner police station has begun the process of filing charges under relevant sections of the law. According to police officials, strict legal action will follow after the investigation.

Authorities reported that special operations took place in the Horse Pir Baba, Harkul area, Madni Nagar, and Islam Pur regions of Jamner. Previously, the joint team had also conducted raids in these areas, recovering a large number of animals.

To prevent any unpleasant incidents or law-and-order issues during the operation, a heavy police presence was deployed. Police and municipal officials collaborated to conduct a search operation throughout the area, inspecting suspicious locations.

All rescued goats and livestock have been safely sent to a gaushala in Jalgaon, where they are being cared for. The administration has assured that necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the animals’ safety and proper supervision.

Police Inspector Murli Dhar Kasar of Jamner police station stated that the administration is taking strict action against illegal activities. He noted that special campaigns are being conducted to maintain law and order during festivals and to prevent illegal animal transport and slaughter.

The administration has also appealed to the public to report any instances of illegal animal transport or unlawful activities to the police immediately. Officials emphasized that violators will not be spared under any circumstances.

Murli Dhar Kasar remarked that this operation before Bakrid is seen as a crucial step in the administration’s vigilance and efforts to maintain law and order. The local administration has clarified that such campaigns will continue in the future.
