New Delhi, May 27: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two additional suspects in the NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak case, bringing the total number of arrests to 13.
According to the CBI, Dr. Manoj Shirure from Latur was apprehended for his significant role in facilitating access to the chemistry question paper for three students, including the son of a coaching center operator, through accused P.V. Kulkarni.
The second arrested individual has been identified as Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, a faculty member of physics at Dr. Abhang Prabhu Medical Academy in Pune. The investigation revealed that he received the leaked physics question paper from previously arrested accused Manisha Hawaldar.
The CBI stated that the investigation is ongoing to uncover the complete conspiracy and the roles of other suspects. So far, the agency has conducted searches at 49 locations across the country, seizing several incriminating documents, laptops, and mobile phones. A detailed examination of the seized materials is currently underway.
This case was registered on May 12, following a written complaint from the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, which reported the leak of the NEET-UG 2026 question paper.
Following the registration of the case, the CBI formed special investigation teams and conducted simultaneous raids across various states. During the investigation, several suspects were interrogated. To date, 13 suspects have been arrested from locations including Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur, and Ahilyanagar.
The CBI’s investigation has revealed that the chemistry, biology, and physics question papers were circulated before the exam. The agency is now focused on identifying the original source of the leak and the entire network involved.
The CBI has affirmed its commitment to conducting a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation into this matter.
