
New Delhi, May 29: The Mandawali police in East Delhi have arrested a vehicle thief as part of an ongoing crackdown on vehicle theft. Two stolen two-wheelers were recovered from the accused, who has a history of involvement in three previous theft cases. His arrest has led to the resolution of two vehicle theft incidents.
According to police reports, a special team was formed under the supervision of ACP Mayur Vihar and the Mandawali station officer to curb vehicle theft, snatching, and street crime in the area. The team included Head Constable Omveer, Constables Bhupender Sharma, Deepak, Pradeep, Ramkesh, and Vijender.
The police team has been actively patrolling the area, gathering local intelligence, and using technical analysis to identify active criminals.
On May 27, police received a tip-off about a vehicle thief roaming in the Mandawali area. Based on this information, the police set up a trap and began analyzing CCTV footage. After continuous surveillance and action, the accused was apprehended. He has been identified as Deepak (28), a resident of South Ganesh Nagar, Mandawali. During interrogation, he confessed to being involved in multiple vehicle thefts.
Following his lead, police recovered two stolen two-wheelers. One of these is a motorcycle linked to an e-FIR registered on May 7 at the Mandawali police station. The other is a Honda Activa scooter connected to a vehicle theft case registered on May 23 at the Daryaganj police station.
The police are now interrogating the accused to uncover his involvement in other cases and are also searching for others involved in buying and selling stolen vehicles.
DCP Rajiv Kumar of East Delhi stated that the campaign against vehicle theft and street crime will continue.
