
Beijing, May 29: The four-day 2026 World Intelligent Industry Expo commenced on Thursday in Tianjin, a northern city in China. This event showcases cutting-edge technologies related to intelligent industries and their practical applications.
Experts indicate that artificial intelligence (AI) is significantly enhancing the efficiency of traditional industries, leading to new growth opportunities and innovative business models.
This year’s theme is “Intelligence: A Great Opportunity for Development, a Driver of Sustainable Growth.” The expo features innovations in core AI technologies, embedded AI, intelligent connected vehicles, low-altitude economy, commercial space, intelligent manufacturing, and smart lifestyles. Spanning 130,000 square meters, this is the largest edition in the event’s history. Over 200 innovative achievements and technological outcomes will be unveiled during the expo.
Wu Chaohui, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stated that from the strategic planning in 2024 to implementation across various sectors in 2025, and the establishment of a new intelligent economy in 2026, China has consistently focused on the “Artificial Intelligence Plus” development strategy. This indicates that China’s AI development process has now entered a new phase of systematic planning and large-scale application.
According to the “National Data Resource Survey Report (2025),” China’s total data production is expected to reach 52.26 zettabytes (ZB) by 2025. The total amount of data used for AI training and inference has reached 199.48 exabytes (EB). For the first time, the amount of inference data has surpassed training data, indicating rapid advancements in both areas of the AI industry.
Ke Chishin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, emphasized that the ministry will leverage opportunities to promote new types of industrialization, deepen the practical applications of AI, and strengthen the industrial ecosystem.
