New Delhi, May 29: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken significant action against activists of the banned terrorist organization CPI (Maoist) in Andhra Pradesh. The agency has filed a chargesheet against three CPI (Maoist) activists related to the supply of explosive materials and logistical support.
The first chargesheet, submitted in the special NIA court located in Visakhapatnam, includes various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the accused.
Two of the accused, Naka David Raj alias David and Vijay Vishwas, have been identified as overground workers (OGWs) of CPI (Maoist). They were apprehended by local police while attempting to hand over a consignment of explosives to the third accused, Sodi Kesa.
The NIA’s investigation revealed that David and Vijay were involved in procuring, transporting, and supplying explosive materials to underground Maoist operatives for attacks on security forces. The anti-terrorism agency further discovered that the accused had established connections with CPI (Maoist) members and were actively providing support to further the organization’s nefarious agenda.
The NIA took over the case from local police in September 2024. Subsequent investigations indicated that the entire conspiracy was designed to bolster the operational capabilities of CPI (Maoist) in the region and disrupt national security and stability.
The investigation is ongoing to identify other connections related to the banned organization.
